BIOGRAPHY
William Okajima is a versatile dancer whose natural, fluid movement blends technical precision with artistic expression. Rooted in his Japanese heritage and grounded by family and a deep commitment to curiosity, connection, and community, he creates work that bridges cultures, pushes artistic boundaries, and shapes spaces where individuals feel seen and supported.
Originally from Irvine, California, William trained at Westside Dance Project and Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy before earning his BFA from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance in 2024, studying under artists including Kyle Abraham and William Forsythe. At the age of 13, he appeared in Sia’s The Greatest music video, launching a professional career that has spanned both concert dance and commercial work, including campaigns for Honda, Apple, Uniqlo, Pull & Bear, and Abu Dhabi Tourism.
In 2024, he joined A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, deepening his exploration of dance as both personal expression and cultural dialogue. In 2025, he received the Princess Grace Award for Dance Performance, a recognition that honors extraordinary early career artists in theater, dance, and film. Alongside performing and creating, he is passionate about supporting the next generation of artists through DanceNav, a platform he is developing to expand access, opportunity, and visibility within the dance community.
